MURMOONS
As Murmoons, Marshall Moran’s work lives somewhere between performance, installation, and environment.
Trained in classical saxophone and audio sampling, his pieces deconstruct psychedelic rock, american experimentalism, hip hop, and club music—then recombine the components into immersive sonic spaces.
Over his decades-long career, Moran has performed at a diverse array of venues, including The Parrish Museum, House of Yes, Spectrum Gallery, Cameo Gallery and Free Candy.
Moran’s recent work as Murmoons considers modular synthesizers as living systems—generative, reactive, and in dialogue with the performer. These set-ups allow the machines to act as collaborators rather than simple tools, dissolving the boundaries between composer, performer, and instrument
